Just somebody

Hi, I’m the Founder and designer. Nice to meet you!

Why kikay?

Story

KIKAY is my dance name, given to me, by me. A name that carries weight, contradiction, and truth. To me, it means lovable, masculine, feminine, stubborn, and hated. It’s a reflection of all the parts I was told shouldn’t belong together, but do. KIKAY is every piece of me, unapologetically.

I’ve danced for most of my life. And for just as long, I struggled with what to wear. I’m a girly fashionista at heart, but the dance world made it feel like I had to choose: move powerfully or look beautifully. There was never space for both. There was never space for me.

So, I created KIKAY. Not just as a name, but as a home for everything I am, and everything I refuse to hide. KIKAY reminded me of who I am when the world tried to convince me otherwise. She became the one I danced for. The one who pulled me through moments of doubt, silence, and survival. KIKAY gave me purpose when I felt directionless and love when I felt lonely.

Out of that, a brand was born. Not from trends. Not to please. But from raw need for something real. KIKAY exists to give others what she gave me: the power to be fully, fearlessly yourself. To create space where none existed. To wear your truth out loud.

This isn’t just fashion. It’s a statement. A refusal to shrink. A reminder that if standing in your truth makes you the villain, then wear the crown like it was made for you.

KIKAY is for the dreamers, the odd one out, the ones who do it THEIR way. For those who don’t want to fit in. KIKAY is my story and she would love to meet yours.

Vision
I see a world that doesn’t ask you to apologize for who you are. Not for being odd or different, not for being soft. Not for caring too much or not at all. Not for dressing up when others expect you to tone it down. Not for choosing yourself again and again. Through KIKAY, I want to create a space where every piece of you is welcome. The loud parts, the quiet parts, the parts you’re still learning to love. The parts that people will see as egotistical. Your boundaries, no matter how little the issue seems in someone else’s eyes. Your grammar issues, your fears, your little or no need to change people’s perspectives about you. Emotions that people will see as desperate. The parts of you that people want to demolish because they don’t have them. Every single thing that people will discard you for.

A space where fashion isn’t about fitting in but about standing in your truth. KIKAY is more than clothing. She’s a mindset. A reminder. A rebellion. She holds space for those of us who were told we were too complicated, too colorful, too much. She doesn’t ask you to change. She dares you to go deeper. To live louder. To show up honestly, even when it’s uncomfortable. Even when it’s misunderstood. Because being different isn’t a weakness. It’s a weapon. And in this space, no one gets to tell you otherwise. KIKAY started as mine, but she was always meant to be ours. Shape her with your truth. Let her carry your story. Wear her with pride.

Product proces

Quality Over Quantity
This process isn’t about mass production or chasing trends. It’s about making sure each piece is crafted with care, both technically and personally, to meet the highest standards.I don’t design based on what sells best. I design based on my creative energy in that moment, trusting that the person who connects with the design will be the one to buy it. The more fun I have while designing, the more fun I’ll have running this business, and that’s the kind of energy I need to keep flowing to stay mentally and creatively healthy.

Sourcing Materials‍
The process begins with leftover fabric rolls, materials that would typically be discarded. These are sourced from companies and fabric resellers. Every roll is meticulously checked by hand. If the fabric is in good condition, it proceeds to the next stage; if not, it's set aside. This is the responsibility of the resellers and suppliers, not mine. I simply select the materials I prefer based on texture, weight and color.

Design Phase‍
After sorting the fabric, the design phase begins. This involves sketching ideas, determining the shapes, and considering how the piece should move, feel, and fall on the body. Once the design is conceptualized, I move on to creating the patterns.

First Prototype‍
The first prototype is a critical phase where everything is tested—fit, design, and functionality. We use a different fabric with the same structure as denim to check if any details were missed or if the patterns are incorrect in any way.

Second Prototype‍
The second prototype is intended to be the final one, but we often choose to make certain changes. Therefore, 9 times out of 10, we consider it a second prototype rather than the final version.

Final Version
The final version is the first one that's ready for pre-order, with no further changes needed.

Digital Grading (Size Scaling)‍
Once I’m fully satisfied with the final design -when it feels right in both fit and spirit- the next step is to digitally draft each size, from XXXS to 5XL. This part of the process ensures that the design stays consistent across the entire size range. I don’t just scale it up or down; I carefully adjust every detail to preserve the proportions, shape, and overall look that made the original sample special. This isn’t just a technical step, it’s an extension of the creative process. Each size deserves the same level of intention and care as the first sketch. That way, no matter which size someone wears, the piece feels like it was made just for them.

Time spend on the garment(s)

This refers to the amount of time I spend sewing on one product.
